The FAQ

We want our photos in some of Scotland's iconic landscapes. will you travel?

Oh YAY! I would be delighted to - there's nothing I love more than a road trip up north to spend time in Scotland's beautiful and dramatic landscapes. I've lived in Scotland for most of my life and done a lot of exploring and I'm still awestruck by the ruggedness and the insanely-atmospheric light we get in the highlands. I'm happy to offer some suggestions for locations too, based on your vision for our session.
So yes - I definitely will travel. For sessions in the highlands there will be an additional fee to cover my fuel costs and maybe to cover basic accommodation too, depending how far north we're heading. I also recommend we have a bit of a longer session to really make the most of our time together exploring and adventuring - so I am happy to offer additional hours in addition to your base package.

How long have you been doing this?

This is my first year in business, although my love story with photography goes way back.
I want to be transparent about this and my current prices do reflect the relative youth of my business. I studied photography in 2019/2020 and since then have put a lot of time and investment into learning from some of the industries most wonderful creatives in the elopement, wedding and family photography world so that I can feel confident in doing what I do. I'm so grateful to those who have trusted me to tell their stories so far and cannot wait to see where this journey takes me.

How many photos do we get?

I don't limit my galleries to certain count or number. I don't wan't to hold anything back from you. I edit and send each and every image that I feel adds to the story of our time spent together. This way your gallery really does tell your unique story in all it's beauty.

Do you offer prints?

Yes! My gallery host has a great integrated shop where you can purchase your favourite prints. I do always recommend that folk have their memories professionally printed.

However, you do have full usage rights to the images - so you can download your high resolution files and print them as you wish!

Please get in touch if you would like to talk about bringing your memories together in an individually curated fine-art album.

How do we book you?

If you'd like to work with me I'd be so delighted to hear from you! First things first, I recommend you have a good look through my website, portfolio and instagram just to make sure that my style is in-keeping with your needs and vision.
If so, reach out via my enquiry form or by emailing directly at hello@catrionaemilyphotography.com and I can answer any immediate questions you may have. Once we have a date in mind I'll send you out my contract and an invoice. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of a £100 deposit and signed agreement.

About a month or so before your elopement or session I'll get back in touch and we can have a further chat about plans for the day. I'd love to grab a coffee together or we can arrange a zoom call, or if you'd prefer, we can do this over email!

Can you help us with planning?

I'm absolutely happy to chat through your ideas and vision for your day or session and offer any suggestions that I can. I know that a lot of you are coming to elope or renew their vows in Scotland from abroad - and thus it's not so easy to plan and choose a location from afar.

What should we wear?

I generally suggest wearing neutral or earthy tones as they're timeless - if you're unsure about this please just ask.

Try to avoid big patterns, extremely bright colours and logos. Writing is so distracting in imagery. Think about incorporating some different fabrics and textures into your outfit - knitwear, cord or ribbed fabrics, flowing dresses, linen etc.
For family sessions just aim for complementary colours and don't try to match completely.

Ultimately - wear what feels like you and what makes you feel comfortable. This is your story after all. And if you'd like my advice on anything just let me know!

What happens if it rains?

It is highly likely that it will rain in Scotland so for elopements and couples we'll just try to embrace it and adventure on through it! If you're up for it, photos in the rain can be so romantic and emotive! We can always seek shelter if it gets too wild and wait for the worst to pass.

For families, if it buckets we may have to find a sheltered planB or reschedule - especially if little ones are present. But I'm happy to - and very used to - shooting in any weather. So if you're happy to don the wellies and splash through puddles, I am too.
